Smile White clear aligners help adults to straighten teeth without the inconvenience of fixed metal braces.
Aligners are:
- Removable:Take them out to eat, drink, when speaking and exercising or playing an instrument.
- Easy to clean:Use denture tablets or an ultrasonic cleaner to keep your aligners in top condition and brush your teeth as normal.
- Effective: Treat mild, moderate and complex cases quickly. Smile White even has attachments for the most complex of cases.
- Almost invisible:There’s no sign of “brace face” with aligners, which are hard to spot when worn throughout the day.
What are Clear Aligners?
Created from Zendura® FLX, a state-of-the-art dental material that has been specifically designed for dentists, your clear aligners are custom made for you.
They're slim and fit over your teeth, similar to a gum shield or guard. Each aligner applies pressure in a calculated way and guides each tooth along a pre-determined path until you have a straight smile.
Rather than visiting your dentist to have your braces adjusted, simply swap your aligners for the next numbered set to continue your treatment. This means fewer visits to your dentistand less time off work, making it more convenient than other dental treatments.
Wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day. You’ll start to see results within weeks. The total timeframe is unique to you, reflecting the severity of your case and number of aligners needed to fully straighten your smile. This can be anywhere from a few months to a year or longer for the most complex cases. You’ll receive a full treatment plan documenting your timeline during your consultation.
How Clear Aligners Work
Book your consultation with Confident Dental Care or speak to your dentist at your next checkup and mention you're interested in Smile White clear aligners.
You'll have a high-resolution 3D scan and X-ray of your mouth and a full oral health check to make sure you're eligible for aligners. Your scans are sent to Smile White labwhere your aligners are created. This is then posted to your dentist.
Visit your dentist to have your aligners fitted. You'll have composite attachment “dots” added to your teeth. These discreet bumps match those in the aligner to keep it firmly in place, allowing you to “snap” each set on and off as required throughout the day.
Insome occasions, youmay need IPR (interproximal reduction) to remove 0.5mm of enamel from your teeth that would otherwise get in the way of your transformation. If this is a concern, consider having composite bonding after your treatment is complete to replace any missing material.
In other rare occasions, we may suggest removing a tooth to allow space for your remaining teeth to be made straight. You’ll be given instructions on how to use and clean your aligners.
Clean your teeth and aligners after taking them out (and before putting them back in) to help prevent gum disease, cavities, tartar and plaque build-up. Use a soft bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, mouthwash and interdental brushes or floss on your teeth. Use a denture cleaning tablet or ultrasonic cleaner to clean your aligners. If removing your aligners during the day, rinse your mouth and aligners with clean water before putting them back in.
You'll start to see results in 4-6 weeks with teeth becoming visibly straighter. This continues throughout your treatment until you have a straight smile. To keep your teeth straight after treatment, wear a Smile White retainer overnight as you sleep.
